Albertsons Companies is deeply grateful for how our frontline associates have continued to serve their neighbors throughout 2020. To say thanks once again, the company is paying a 2020 Frontline Hero Award to all eligible hourly frontline associates.
Throughout this pandemic, the health and safety of everyone who walks through our doors has been our top priority. We require our associates to wear masks, and across a majority of our stores we already require customers to wear face coverings to comply with local ordinances. Effective July 21, 2020, we will require customers across all of our locations to wear face coverings when shopping with us, for their protection and for that of our associates. We appreciate everyone’s diligence, cooperation, and support as we all work together to get through these difficult times as safely as possible.
BOISE, Idaho April 22, 2020 – Albertsons Companies today announced a $50 million commitment to hunger relief across the 2,200+ neighborhoods it serves in 34 states and the District of Columbia through its Nourishing Neighbors Community Relief campaign.
Albertsons Companies has extended its Appreciation Pay program for all non-union and union front line associates through May 2, 2020. Structured to recognize the hard-working team members on the front lines, the company’s e-commerce pickers and drivers, store associates, distribution center associates and manufacturing plant associates are receiving a temporary $2 per-hour-worked increase, above and beyond their regular hourly pay and overtime.
As we all navigate this public health crisis together, Albertsons Companies is doing everything we can to prioritize the health and safety of our associates, customers, and communities, and to ensure our customers have access to the food, medications, and other essential goods they need at this critical time.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Albertsons Companies stores — including Safeway, ACME Markets, Jewel Osco, Vons, Pavilions, and Albertsons supermarkets — joined the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union (UFCW), America’s largest food and retail union, in announcing a joint national effort to seek a temporary designation of “extended first responders” or “emergency personnel” for supermarket associates to ensure that they are prioritized for testing and provided personal protection equipment during the coronavirus outbreak.

BOISE,Idaho, — March 23, 2020 – Albertsons Companies today announced that the company has begun implementing Social Distancing protocols across all 2,200+ stores. The goal with the protocol throughout the store is to follow guidance from the CDC to prevent customers from being within 6 feet of any other person for more than 10 minutes. Customers should see changes continue over the next week.

Albertsons Companies is in a unique position to help and is partnering with major companies to provide part-time jobs to their employees who have been furloughed or had their hours cut.

BOISE, Idaho, — March 20, 2020 – As an added precaution during the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak, Albertsons Companies is installing Plexiglas in its checkout lanes as a protective barrier between customers and checkers. The Plexiglas “sneeze guards” will be installed in the company’s 2,200+ stores over the next two weeks, with many locations being complete in the next several days.
Our associates have been incredibly dedicated throughout this critical time. We are hiring retail positions in all of our divisions to shore up our teams and provide our neighbors have the food, medicine, and essential goods they need.
As an added precaution during the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak, Albertsons Cos. has paused self-service operations like soup bars, wing bars, salad bars, and olive bars.
BOISE, Idaho — March 20, 2020 — Albertsons Companies announced today it will waive delivery fees for same-day and next-day deliveries, as well as for mail deliveries until May 1, 2020 to help customers have convenient access to their medications during the COVID-19 pandemic that is taking a toll on public health and safety.
