Tom Lofland

As a 28-year grocery industry veteran, Tom Lofland has a distinguished track record of accomplishments.

Tom’s grocery career began in 1990, when he joined Albertsons as the second employee to be hired into the company’s brand new accelerated management training program.

After completing the Albertson’s training program, Tom became a Grocery Manager (equivalent to today’s Assistant Store Director role) in Seminole, FL. Two years later, Tom was promoted to Store Director, and he ran three stores in Florida (in Altamonte, Pensacola and Longwood).

In the decades that followed, Tom worked as an Assistant Grocery Sales Manager, a Grocery Sales Manager, a corporate Director of Grocery, and a division Vice President of Center Store. His work took him from Florida to Texas, Tennessee, Idaho and Chicago.

In 2015, Tom’s work brought him to Maryland, where he joined the Company’s Eastern Division as Vice President of Merchandising and Marketing and helped lead the post-merger transition. Tom served in this role until August 2018, when he was named President of the Eastern Division.

Tom earned a bachelor’s degree from Portland State University, and he also completed the University of Southern California’s Food Industry Management program.

Prior to his work in the grocery industry, Tom served in the U.S. Army as a platoon leader, an infantry mortar leader and a tank executive officer. During his military service, he was stationed in the U.S. and Germany.

Tom and his wife live in Edgewater, MD. They have four children and recently welcome their first grandchild to the family.
